This morning we headed back to San Pedro to try for the Short-billed Dowitcher again. The water level is high and there is little, if any, sandbank exposed for the waders. Just as we were about to leave, we met Richard Howard who had last recorded it on 28th March. Richard told us the bird had been seen at El Mahon, which is about a kilometre inland from the salt pans.

We spent a couple of hours looking for it but sadly no luck again. We did however record a single Knot which is a god record for this area, along with; Curlew Sandpiper (3), Marsh Sandpiper (2) both first for the year for us. Also - Ruff (3), Redshank (20+), Sanderling (30+), Turnstone (9)
On the way to Del Algar we pulled in alongside the Mar Menor for a quick scan which rewarded us with Common Scoter (4) and Great Crested Grebe (40+). Good numbers of the Grebe were pairing up and we watched them for a while displaying to one another.
